About
Dr. Radhika Sharma
Consultant Pulmonologist and Allergy Specialist. MD in Respiratory Medicine, fellowship-trained in interventional pulmonology, and holder of the Diploma in Allergy & Asthma (D.A.A) from Christian Medical College, Vellore.
Consultations in English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Dogri.
Training
Radhika trained in respiratory medicine at Chettinad Hospital & Research Institute in Chennai, after early residencies in the Department of TB & Chest at Lok Nayak Hospital and in internal medicine at Ganga Ram Hospital, both in New Delhi. She completed a fellowship in interventional pulmonology at Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad, in 2022, and practises as an interventional pulmonologist.
In 2024 she completed the Diploma in Allergy & Asthma (D.A.A) at Christian Medical College, Vellore — a structured, formally examined allergy training programme, and the basis for the allergy diagnosis and immunotherapy offered here. Allergy is not a recognised standalone specialty in India, and structured training in it remains scarce.
She spent four years as Assistant Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Shadan Institute of Medical Sciences, teaching undergraduates and supervising postgraduate residents, and continues to teach. She has published four peer-reviewed papers on COPD severity, sleep-disordered breathing and thoracic disease.
She consults as a pulmonologist at Apollo Hospitals, Kondapur, from 9 to 11 each morning, Monday to Saturday, and at this clinic in Jubilee Hills from 11 to 6.
The words for it
Pulmonologist, chest specialist, respiratory specialist, lung specialist and chest doctor all mean the same thing — a physician trained in the diseases of the lungs and airways. Referral letters use them interchangeably, and so do patients. Allergy specialist and allergy doctor likewise describe one job, not two.
It is worth saying plainly, because the word on your referral letter often decides which clinic you look for. Whichever of them you were told to find, in Jubilee Hills or anywhere else in Hyderabad, it is this.
In her words
Her interest in allergy came from the chest clinic. A significant share of the patients arriving with difficult asthma turned out to have untreated nasal allergy driving it, and a significant share of those labelled asthmatic had never had spirometry at all. Treating the airway as one organ rather than two departments is the practical basis of this clinic.
